A SLAM Revolution in the Robotic Industry

For the past few years, we have seen many organizations increase productivity as well as save substantial money in labor and insurance by deploying robots on factory floors and warehouses. Now, the next stage of the factory floor and warehouse automation is on the horizon with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM)-technology-enabled robots. For instance, if a manufacturer needs to handle different materials such as wafer cassettes, tray discs, and CNC machined parts on their factory floors, they can opt for Youibot’s O series robots. These robots come with mechanicalarms, vision, grippers, and other mechanisms designed for handling delicate objects like semiconductor wafers. Youibot’s C series robots, on the other hand, are designed for the automatic material transfer of different production lines and stations with the help of upper rollers, belts, and conveyor lines. Other types of robots include box clamping/clamping CH series, lifting and rotating L series, automatic trolley sorting AT series, and intelligent forklift F series. Youibot has also recently added a new series of robots, dubbed ARIS, for process visualization, unmanned operation, and intelligent inspection.

At the heart of this robot series lies Youibot’s proprietary robot operating systems that can be customized to meet different product manufacturing or handling requirements. If the requirement is a multi-machine scheduling collaboration system, Youibot’s YOUIFLEET allows multiple robots to communicate and assign tasks to one another and also to facilitate clients to connect various levels of business systems for allocating tasks, optimizing path planning, and maintaining traffic control. Similarly, the YOUITMS system is designed for on-site robot logistics management in the production environment. Compared with the traditional robot scheduling system, YOUITMS can better solve practical problems in robot logistics. It adopts the simplest system connection method to make it easy for businesses to operate and manage the robots. As a result, businesses can imbue their robots with more SLAM capabilities by leveraging these operating systems. Due to such holistic functionalities, Youibot’s robotic solutions are not just sought after by warehouse and distribution center managers and owners but also by semiconductor and electronics manufacturers.

A testament to these competencies is one of Youibot’s recent engagements with a renowned semiconductor manufacturer, who used the company’s mobile robots to automate wafer handling tasks. The manufacturer minimized the previous lead time taken to feed the wafers into machines by seven percent. The client is currently using 17 mobile robots to handle around 25,000 wafer assets across a cumulative distance of about 310 miles.
